I got married in August and if I do say so myself, the day was perfect. A lovely ceremony, cake and cocktails, food AND we were done by 5pm. I was quite nervous about how MS would impact the day and thought I’d share some of the things we managed to weave into the celebrations in a bid to keep the MS tax at bay.

1. Prioritise

It sounds very simple but weddings can grow arms and legs so we picked what mattered most to us that was also realistic and we stuck to it.

2. Get people in the know

I disclosed my health to the lovely vendors we hired for the wedding and I was so glad of it on the day! Our photographer was wonderful and really worked to my pace and abilities.

3. Mobility aids

I use them in day to day life so the big day was no different. To feel less medical I got a blue rollator and we added ribbon. Shout out to my husband for carrying my bouquet 90% of the time.

4. Clothing

My dress was cut to ankle length to save me having to watch out for tripping over it or getting it caught in wheels. It also saved me from a heavy dress

I would be lying if I said my health playing a role in wedding planning hadn’t been frustrating. I always try to balance my health and just living life but working with my MS and not fighting it really allowed for us to have a beautiful wedding.
